Third food test : Muikkukukko

Brand : no brand, a speciality of Kuopio, cooked by Irene Partanen (http://www.irenepartanen.fi/)

Product name : Muikkukukko

Price : near 20€ (3 pieces)

Why this product ?
Simply because we were visiting Kuopio's town, and many French guide told tourist to go to Myymälä Kauppahalli to taste this recipe. This product is made with vendace, bacon, salt, rye, oats, wheat and vegetables.

Conclusion :
The taste is good, the crust is near the donut taste and texture. I can describe it, as a mix of firm fish and rice. But it is not as so great as they talk in guides... Slightly disappointed.

  1. If that photo is depicting the item you ate as muikkukukko, someone must have misunderstood something. That's lihapiirakka (meat pastry), and your description confirms my suspicion. The "vendace purse" is not made of donut dough, but in rye bread dough, and there is no rice in muikkukukko.
